You did the best you could to create the perfect blog. You invested in great content, well- researched and well-written, and also gave it a professional design. The user experience is brilliant and you got several tools to make it better for you. And yet, nobody is reading it.
This can be really frustrating.
But the good news is that you aren’t alone. It happens to many bloggers everyday.
The cause is the fact that most of the bloggers know how to do the job, but not how to promote it. If you want people to actually read your articles, you will have to let them know that they exist in the first place.
Here are the top ten ways to promote your blog, so you can increase your traffic in a blink of an eye.
# 1 – Syndicate your content
It is amazing how many bloggers don’t syndicate the content that they produce. Many bloggers still think that syndicated content is the same as duplicated content, and that they will be penalized by Google if they do it. However, if you do it the right way, you will get your content published on many other sites without getting in trouble.
# 2 – Mention other bloggers
A great way to make sure that your post will be shared and read is mentioning other bloggers on it. You can add a link to their posts, and hope that they’ll find your post, or you can try a more direct approach letting them know about you mentioned them.
Another option is interviewing them, which is also great for fresh and original content. It is very likely that they will share your post with their audience, so it can be an easy way to promote your blog, (and, you can do the same with any influencer, blogger or not).
# 3 – Join Haro
Another less common way to promote your blog is by joining Haro, (Help a Reporter) a social media network. There you can find several reporters looking for information and sources, and you might be the right person to provide it through your blog. It is a free service that puts together journalists from around the world, so don’t miss the opportunity to talk with them.
# 4 – Answer questions on Quora
Quora is one of the best places to get answers about virtually anything, so you should be there showing off your expertise, too. Create a tag to your topic of choice (related to your blog, of course), and try to answer as many questions as you can. You are also allowed to add links to your posts, so make the most of it.
# 5 – Create a video tutorial
You can create a video tutorial about one of your favorite topics and use it to promote your blog. You can just mention it, or refer to it as an extra resource for those willing to know more about the subject. In any case, remember to also add a clickable link to the video description, just to make things easier for your readers.
# 6 – Give away an e-book
Take part of your content and go deeper. Spend time doing more research, so that you can truly transform it into a free e-book. Then make sure that the links to the original posts are there (and very visible) for your audience to click and read.
# 7 – Promote it on social media
Believe it or not, many bloggers don’t share their content on their own social media. They think that they shouldn’t do it, that it would be inconvenient. But, as long as you know how and where to do it, there isn’t anything wrong in sharing with your friends and followers. If it still feels strange, you can create a Facebook page to your blog, separating it from your personal account. Or you can stick to more professional social media networks, such as LinkedIn.
# 8 – Pay for advertising
Another possibility is to pay for advertising to promote your blog or a specific post. If you have the budget, you can also contact websites and try to pay for a banner or a sponsored post. Another option, is to boost a post on social media or buy an ad there.
# 9 – Participate to blogger communities
There are several blogger communities at your disposal, and they are a great place to promote your blog. Not only will you meet new people and grab new ideas, but you will be able to post your links and ask for opinions – meaning that they will read your posts and bring some traffic to your blog.
# 10 – Give a talk
Offline strategies can also help you out. For example, try giving a talk to promote your blog. You will mention your blog during the speech and its name will probably be on all ads and press releases (make sure it does), so you may just reach a brand new audience.
There are many ways to promote your blog as you can see, and many of them won’t cost you a cent. So get yourself busy writing, and start putting these tips into practice right now. You won’t regret it!
