If you want to drive traffic to your blog, it is critical to dedicate time to promoting it. There are over one hundred million blogs on the Internet and unless you actively steer awareness toward your site, it will likely receive little attention. Here are five tried-and-true tips for new bloggers to increase site traffic:
Write Good Content on Schedule
To drive interest to your site, you must focus on writing good content. Your posts must present a hook with compelling information to attract readers and keep their interest. The majority of your blog posts should include the following:
- Interesting current information
- Actual help or advice which will benefit the reader in some way
- A stunning visual
- A question at the end of the post to encourage readers to comment
Although not all blog posts will conform to include all of these points, ask yourself how your piece will resonate with readers before you hit the “Publish” button.
A regular posting schedule helps promotion as well. Analyze your stats to determine the days you get the most traffic and try to post on those days. People tend to gravitate toward routine and want to know your site is updated regularly. Posting on a schedule can also boost your search engine traffic.
Use Social Media Promotion
Once you’ve written a new post, use social media to your advantage. Most readers are plugged into websites like Instagram, Twitter, Pinterest and LinkedIn. Even established businesses like LifeLock use Facebook to promote their services since people frequent these sites to connect with friends and find useful content. To make this type of social media promotion the most effective, include the link of your blog on your social media profiles, schedule tweets on Twitter and Facebook posts and emphasize blog content on your LinkedIn and Pinterest pages.
Comment on Other Blogs
For other bloggers and readers to learn about your website, comment on similar blogs. By engaging with these bloggers, you work toward building an audience for your blog. These same bloggers will likely appear on your website, comment or possibly share your posts with their readers. Networking with similar bloggers is a great way to drive traffic toward your website because it extends your reach to newer audiences and increases visibility.
Use a Newsletter
Do you want to create a personal touch when connecting with your readers? Use your email as a way to send out your blog posts in a newsletter. Some readers prefer to read all content in one sitting instead of hunting for it on a social media feed. Highlight your blog in your newsletter, but also share articles by other writers so your audience knows you are focused on curating content helpful for your readers.
Participate in Forums
Networking with other virtual writers is a must when you are trying to create support for your blog. By doing so, you might learn something from other writers, generate ideas for your future blog posts and participate in meaningful conversations about blogging. Connecting with a colleague for potential mentorship can lead to discovering new avenues for your blog. Interacting in forums will create a buzz for your blog and potentially attract new readership.
What other ways have you promoted your blog?

I have adopted a share the wealth philosophy over the last few weeks and I share other’s posts on social media. This has gotten me at least one organic follower a day on each of the social media’s that I use.
What a fantastic idea!! Thank you so much for sharing it with us and our readers.
As for content I would add that it has to be nicely structured in order to help visitors to easily find the information they need without reading the whole article. Most of the people in the internet scan texts, not read. And if we help them to save their time they will be thankfull, more probably liking or sharing your article with their friends.
Fantastic points! Thank you for sharing and commenting.
