If you’re new to starting a blog you’re likely overwhelmed by the number of things you can do in order to grow your blog. While it can be intimidating at first, don’t allow it to be as blogging can be just like anything else in life – it just takes some hard work to get the ball rolling. With that in mind, there are many ways you can grow your blog and I’ve highlighted a few to get your creative juices flowing.
Make Your Readers Want to Come Back
Some may start a blog and think that all they have to do is throw content up and they’ll make money blogging in no time at all. Generally speaking that is simply not the case; if solid content is not there then readers simply will not come back. Thus the saying “content is king.” There are various ways this can be implemented, but should at least be focused on the following:
- Quality over quantity
- Engaging writing
- Consistent schedule
There are likely other areas that can be focused on, but these provide a great start. The beauty is that these can help drive social media mentions and thus help you grow your blog more.
Grow Your Blog Through Social Media
I’ve discussed social media numerous times, but it really can work and give you great leverage to help you grow your blog. The great thing about social media is that you’re instantly opening your blog up to many more potential readers and you never know who’ll end up coming to your site as a result. Just remember that blog promotion is much more than simply pushing your own blog, but a way to highlight other bloggers work who can, as a result, become allies with you to help you grow your blog.
Comment, Then Comment Some More
Social media is not the only way to get your blog’s name out there, another great way to grow your blog is through commenting on other blogs. Blog commenting has a two-fold effect:
- It can drive traffic to your site as other bloggers see you in the blogosphere.
- It can help you develop beneficial relationships with the blogs you’re commenting on.
I know a common objection is that there are so many blogs that it can be difficult to comment on them all. While that may be true, try not to allow it to hold you back. Instead of not commenting, come up with a plan of attack of commenting on a certain number of blogs, say 10-15, each day. That can help you not only get your name out there but also start to give you ways to grow your blog through this avenue of referral traffic.
