You’ve been on Blogger for more than a year now and are completely comfortable with your theme. You know how to add gadgets, content, Adsense, blog buttons and so on. Why would you want to make the switch when you are as comfortable as you are? As someone who has made the switch, I’m here to reassure you that WP is just as easy as Blogger and a lot more fun when it comes to setting up the design of your site!
A lot of bloggers are confused between a WordPress Theme and a Blogger Template. They are in fact, one in the same – the difference is that in WP you have more Design control. Did you know that with a basic WP theme you can make your new site look exactly like your blogger blog? Visually, you will not be able to tell that you have made the transition – a good thing for your Followers who are accustomed to the layout of your previous site.
Here is a list of the top ten WordPress Themes:
- Aspire Magazine
- Thesis (this Theme will cost you $87 but offers highly customizable options)
- Genesis (consider using Blogelina’s Blog Set-Up Service to get a great deal on getting this theme installed for you – no work on your part!)
Each one of these Themes are fully customizable, meaning you can have:
- A 2 or 3 column blog
- Sidebars on either side of your content
- Sidebars on the left only or right only
- One Sidebar or two
- Customizable Headers, Widgets and Footers.
You are not restricted to only using these Themes, the options are endless.
Keep in mind, when you search for a WP Theme, it is not the same as looking for a Blogger Template. The thumbnail that you will view for the WP Theme is just a sample of what can be done with it versus a Blogger Template which is “set” and that is the layout you will get.
When choosing a WP Theme you have a choice to either download it to your hard drive to upload it to your site or you can, through your Dashboard, Search for Themes>Install>Activate. It’s that easy!
Have fun with your search and be sure to share what your favorite WP Theme is in the comments below!
