Does creating a single blog post seem to take forever? Sometimes the process of writing compelling content, making a pinnable image, adding in relevant links, and optimizing for SEO can take hours. It leaves us wondering what we can do to streamline the process of blog post creation.
There’s no one-size-fits all solution to streamlining post creation, but there are some steps you can take to figure out what processes would work for you.
How to Create a Blogging Workflow Process That Works for You
- Make a list of every single thing you have to do to create a post and promote it. You may want to make this list while you’re working on a blog post so you don’t forget any steps.
- Estimate how long each of your tasks takes.
- Examine each task. Is there something you could do to make it easier or faster? Perhaps you could do all of your blog post writing for the week at once. You could shoot all of your photos at once. Maybe you could batch create your pinnable images. Not having to switch gears between writing, photography, and graphic design will save you time and mental energy.
Once you’ve figured out how you want to change your blog creation process, it’s time to try your new system out. However, that’s going to be difficult to do if you’re you’ve got a blog post due each day this week.
Try to work ahead so you have some wiggle room to experiment with your new workflow. Schedule a week or two of posts in advance, and then create your new posts using your new workflow process.
If you’re planning on batching a lot of your work, you might want to do something like this for the next week of blog posts:
Blogging Workflow Process
Day 1 – Take photographs
Day 2 – Write posts
Day 3 – Create pinnable images
Day 4 – Add in links and optimize for SEO
Day 5 – Schedule social media shares
As you experiment with your new process, tweak it so that it works for you and the particular needs of your blog. Creating a new workflow process takes a lot of time and energy up front, but if you’re able to implement a new process you will feel much more in control of your work, and you’ll probably be more creative!
