This is exactly how I feel! I am BRAND NEW to blogging…as in, just made my site “live” yesterday! And it is so scary! Overwheming doesn’t even begin to cover it. There is so much to learn! I have been working behind the scenes on my blog for a long time, stressing over having everything just right before making it “live”…and you know what, I didn’t get anywhere with that. I finally realized that if I was going to do this thing called blogging, then I was just going to have to do what I could, make the site “live”, and work on it a little at a time. There is still so much that needs to be done, but I am celebrating the small steps! I once read a quote from Chris Brogan: “Don’t wait for motivation, use discipline to get you started and let motivation catch up”. Wow…powerful statement! Sometimes we just need to jump in, and it’s the motivation that will sustain us.

By the way…I really appreciate your blog…I have learned so much! I am a regular reader around here, although this is my first comment…ever! lol

You’re so encouraging! Well this past week I learned how to use those h1, h2, h3’s. I also went back through the few old posts and tried to implement them there as well. I’ve learned how to join in a link-up. So……. it’s going. My only down fall right now is that as much as I’d like to write, I’m not that great at it, yet. Lorf willing I’ll be there one day!

Such a timely post. I needed to be reminded of this. I always think about what I need to get done instead of what I can get done. This weekend I am recording a how-to video on making bread to post on my blog. It’s my first! Thanks for all the great info you have provided and opportunities for me to realize my dream :) It is so appreciated!

Just signed up for hosting and downloaded WordPress. I was so nervous since I know virtually nothing about “tech” stuff. I can happily report that I got WordPress downloaded and nothing blew up! Woo-hoo!

I think it’s like most new things we try. We’re nervous about jumping in, but once we do, it’s not as scary as we thought it would be.

You’re right, Carrie – it will get easier! If you have questions about installing WordPress, be sure to contact your hosting company, too. They can help with that, too!

I have been blogging for a while with Blogger, but want to switch to WP. I am scared to death to do it on my own. I have heard such horror stories and don’t know html or anything. I think my blog would do better at WP maybe. At least, that’s what I hear. I like the fact that I own my content with WP.

Just found your site today and am looking forward to read more!

This is a good reminder. I will look at myself and study what I should be doing to increase the popularity of my blog. I think firstly, content always have to be the priority of any site. Secondly, my reach out channel. I need to increase the effort to reach out to more potential audiences. Congratulation for making over $30,000. :)

Just starting out this week. Think I need to buy lots of Post It Notes and start a trial…all leading to a publishing start date. How long a start up time frame did it take others to get up and running?

As far as getting your domain, hosting, and installing wordpress – those things will not take you very long at all….just a couple of hours maybe. And technically once you do that you officially have a website, but there are so many other things you can do and you could spend forever on. Like I said in my earlier comment, I worked on my website for MONTHS before going “live” trying to get everything just right and all that did was stall my progress and make me lose focus. I finally just made the website live and now I work on things a little at a time each week. Blogging seems to be a constant learning thing, so you are always changing.

Hope this helps! And good luck!

I just did it. I started my blog without knowing anything about the technical side of things or marketing. I am learning as I go. I may have made some mistakes in the process but at least I jumped in and am enjoying blogging.
