There are number of ways you can monetize your blog but selling advertising space to advertisers is the most profitable option.

In this article we will discuss about places where you can look for potential advertisers for your blog and earn a profitable income. Here are a few suggestions to find potential advertisers for your blog:

Place an “Advertise” link on your menu bar

You can place an “Advertise” link on the menu bar of your blog. You should describe all the advertising options available to potential advertisers if they want to advertise their products or services on your blog. This will help all interested companies to easily get necessary information about advertising on your blog.

Write a post welcoming advertisers

You can write a post to welcome potential advertisers to advertise their products and services on your blog. This is an extremely effective technique as you can explain in details about the various advertising option available on your blog. You should write about the kind of traffic you get to your blog, the various advertising options available and any other important information you want to share with the potential advertisers.

Email your list

When looking for potential advertisers you can even email your list to find advertisers for your blog. You should avoid mentioning the advertising rates so that interested people will email you back asking for the same. This will give you a better chance of convincing them to advertise on your blog.

Place a message at the bottom of blog posts

You should place a message below your blog posts to attract advertisers. When you post content on your blog interested advertisers can read this message. You should place an attention grabbing message and include a link to your “Advertise” page for potential advertisers to check out your advertising options.

Keep an eye on your blog post commenter

You should see who are the people leaving comment on your blog posts. It’s extremely likely that they have a relevant product or service for your blog audience. You can contact them and ask them if they would be interested to advertise their products or services and let them know about the kind of audience your blog gets. You are highly likely to strike a deal as they are already a part of your blog community and leave comments on your blog posts.

I have 2 issues but you just covered one. I need to start generating some income from my blog as I want to someday transition from transcription to full-time blogging, but I also need to increase my traffic. I have no clue how to do either. I did follow your steps above and hope that the changes I have made will help in the advertising department but I don’t know how to get my unique daily visitor traffic up. Right now I only average around 2,500-3,000 uniques a month. My Alexa ranking is pretty decent in my opinion and I’m happy with that for now but do you have any tips on increasing traffic? I would love to do some more “tips” posts but it just seems like they’ve all been covered by other blogs and I don’t want to sound repetitive. I have done a couple “DIY” posts that drove some traffic but there is only so much DIY I can fit into a week before I run out of DIY to post lol.

Michelle, I would recommend doing some brainstorming on perhaps adding a different perspective or spin on those topics “everyone else has written on”. How can you make your info on those topics MORE helpful, easier to understand and apply… or just plain more fun to read?
